Your stay with us

Your stay with us

As you drive through the gates of Pedn Billy, you will feel your holiday has really started. You park your car at the Lodge car park where you will be met by Andy, who not only will take your luggage, in the tractor and trailer, down to the Boathouse and up again at the end of your stay, but will give you a guided tour of the accommodation to help make your stay as problem free as possible.
You will enjoy a leisurely short walk through the beautiful ancient woodland, which gives you a real sense of peace and tranquillity, to reach the Boathouse on its private beach.
There are stunning views of the Helford River and glimpses of Port Navas Creek, reminding you of their colourful past.

Location and Amenities

The local area

From the Boathouse there is much to explore.

You are welcome to wander through the Pedn Billy ancient woodland, where you may see buzzards, owls, woodpeckers, wrens, robins...

You can dinghy sail or take a little boat 7 miles (tide permitting) up the river to Gweek. The beach is ideal for all ages... sand castles, fishing, games. The mouth of the river, half a mile away, is your oyster by motor or sail.

How about a whale watching expedition from Falmouth?!

If you prefer to stay on land, there are miles of wonderful coastal footpaths and marvellous gardens within walking distance - Glendurgan and Trebah. Then there is the National Maritime Museum or the Seal Sanctuary. Further afield there are wonderful castles and stately homes.

There are many excellent eating out choices: The Ferry Boat Inn down the beach, Red Lion and the Cornish Maid in Mawnan Smith; Falmouth will do just about anything from MacDonald's to Rick Stein!

Alternatively you could be like AA Milne's Old Sailor who did "nothing at all but basked on the shingle wrapped up in a shawl."

Accommodation

Pedn Billy Boathouse sleeps 4/6. This is a non-smoking cottage. Well behaved dogs are welcome, and boy do they love it, despite not being allowed on the furniture or upstairs.

If you are short of accommodation, you can also book Swallow Cottage - a fully equipped 2 bedroom, one double and one twin, cottage which sleeps 4, across the courtyard from the main Pedn Billy house - a short walk up from the beach.

Facilities & service

Tariff includes bed linen, towels, electricity, heating, UK landline and mobile telephone calls. There is Sky television, FM radio, DVD and Wi-Fi.

If you have pre-ordered your groceries from any of the major supermarkets or the local Spar, Andy will have already taken them down to the Boathouse and Karen will have packed them away. Andy can deal with small boats, kayaks and canoes. Larger boats can be launched at Helford Passage.

Disabled Access

If you have difficulty walking, are in a wheelchair or on crutches, you can be taken down to the Boathouse in the 4 wheel drive all terrain vehicle.  There is a ramp into the downstairs where there is a toilet and basin, and we can easily move a bed from upstairs.  We have had several guests on crutches, in wheelchairs and buggies who have found the Boathouse a wonderfully recuperative experience.
